Antique Soapstone Bed and Foot Warmer with Original Metal Hanger Zsinta

Product Description:  In the much earlier days, soapstones such as this one were commonly used to keep warm whether it was in a buggy, carriage or throughout the night by placing them near or in a heated wood or coal burning stove, wrapped in cloth or rags then placed at the bottom of the bed to keep warm throughout the night. This stone foot or bed warmer has loads of character. In rectangular form it measures 9 ½ inches tall and weighs 8 pounds with the metal hanger still intact.

Condition:  Previously owned – used. Condition is consistent with age and use. One surface crack about 6 ½” long on one side and 2 ½ on reverse side. Still strong with no signs of weakness. Chips, scratches and pitting is present. Black and brown surface marks/discoloration (as shown).
