Description: Charles Coxin emigrated from Staffordshire, England to America in the mid 1800’s. This early, white Ironstone Bread Platter by Coxon & Company, Trenton, New Jersey is an exceptional piece. A nice solid piece of white ironstone with some weight to it, weighing just under 3 pounds. Embossed on two sides of the outside edge is a Motto that is not seen very often; “Where Reason Rules, Appetite Obeys”. Encircling the inner edge is a lovely, embossed wheat pattern. This is a fine, early example of Americana White ware by Coxon & Co., and a very unique find.
